The latest…

My good friend Paola Prestini is the creative director of a new artistic space in Williamsburg – Original Music Workshop. When it’s completed, OMW will be an incredible resource for artists, providing space for rehearsal, recording and performance. It’s geared towards giving the 21st-century artist/entrepreneur everything he or she needs to get their work out there.

I’m a big fan of Paola’s – every project she touches is improved by her thoughts and conviction – and I’m a big fan of this idea. OMW is slated to open in 2015, and they are running a Kickstarter Campaign right now to raise the final bit of money to open their doors. Hello!

This coming March I’m going to play a show at Denison University’s Tutti New Music Festival. It’s an exciting event with lots of incredible artists (ETHEL, Mary Ellen Childs, and more), but the most exciting thing about it for me is that my program will be made up of submissions from composers all over the world.

If you have a solo percussion piece, please head over to this link to show it to me!

See you in Ohio….

Hello everyone,

Things are quieting down over here for a short while! After a few great shows this month (the world premiere of Paola Prestini‘s G-Force for vibraphone and string quartet, a few performances with Jeffrey Zeigler and an appearance with Vicky Chow and Florent Ghys), I’m retreating into my studio to recharge and learn the rest of the music for the summer.

Starting in July, you can catch me at 3 weeks of concerts with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and one stellar program apiece at Music@Menlo and the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival.

In other news, I’m excited to share with you all a live recording of one of my favorite pieces taken from earlier this year, Andy Akiho’s monumental LIgNEouS 1. This was recorded at Princeton University back in February with the wonderful Mivos Quartet.

Check it out!

There’s a bunch of great press from the last two weeks I spent at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

First, The New York Times printed this review (and this picture courtesy of Brian Harkin) on this past Thursday’s New Music in the Kaplan Penthouse program, which included my performance of Alejandro Viñao’s solo marimba masterpiece Khan Variations.

“He opened the program with Alejandro Viñao’s “Khan Variations” for marimba, a seductive work that showed off Mr. Rosenbaum’s knack for exploiting the instrument’s lyrical and percussive qualities…”
