The New York-based Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion join forces to premiere six new works for chamber choir and percussion quartet by University of Chicago graduate student composers.
Written especially for these ensembles, these works are the culmination of Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion’s three-day residency at UChicago, during which these works will be rehearsed extensively, and all involved have the opportunity to deeply explore the intersection of text, song, and percussion writing.
Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion will perform works by Baldwin Giang, Maria Kaoutzani, Paul Novak, Yuting Tan, Kari Watson, and Justin Weiss.
